Now the Red Ensign is Racist?!!

All nations have symbols. They ground us in our history, traditions and culture. They educate us in the fundamentals of nationhood. Canada is no exception. We have our own time honoured symbols. The most important, of course, is the maple leaf. It is universally recognized as the symbol of our nation. Hockey is our sport. Few people are better at it than us. The Bluenose is on our dime. The King is our head of state. We have two official languages. We are a big impressive country with vast resources. The symbols of our nation are endless. They are important […]

What Ails the C.B.C.?

What is wrong with the C.B.C.? Once watched by most of us, it is now viewed by only a small percentage of Canadians and is propped up by federal funds to the tune of hundreds of million dollars. It is so biased that watching it has become painful. What went wrong with our national broadcaster? Not Your Grandfather’s C.B.C.  It’s important to realize that today’s C.B.C. bears no resemblance to the C.B.C. of yesteryear. A lot of us remember that C.B.C. Some of us even remember George Maclean, the anchorman and host of The National, who once stated that it […]

It Didn’t Happen That Way

One of the worst aspects of the “Woke” social revolution is the distortion of history. Most people understand this, even if their knowledge of history is not great. This is especially true if they have lived through an historic period, perhaps in their childhood or youth, and it is portrayed differently on the silver screen or in a book. They know. You can often hear them saying “What?…It didn’t happen that way!” Their anger is understandable. History shouldn’t be distorted. It is wrong to do so, especially for political purposes. So what, you ask, are some examples ?  Stick to […]

Conservaphobia

by Perry D Foster
A new kind of bigotry has entered the world. For the purpose of this post I’ll call it “Conservaphobia.” It’s the only term I can think of to describe it. Like all prejudices, it is illogical, intolerant and contemptible. The suffix “phobia” denotes an irrational fear, but Conservaphobia is more than that. It is a deep seated irrational hatred of Conservatives. The far left and the “woke” mob hate Conservatives because we exist and because we disagree with progressive left wing thinking. That’s all the reason they need.  Pathological and Unreasonable Conservaphobia is different from other prejudices. There is a […]

The R Word

by Perry D Foster
Some of us remember a time when people used the “N” word. Today everyone understands it to be a racial slur. Respectful people don’t use it. If you do, you run the risk of being suspended, fired or worse. Just ask Wendy Mesley of the C.B.C. who retired early because she referenced the word during a meeting. She didn’t call anyone the N word mind you, she just mentioned it. Using the N word can end your career and your personal and professional life. Now a different word has taken its place: the R word. A New Linguistic Bomb I’m talking […]

Cancelling British Columbia?

by Perry D Foster
Cancel culture is a terrible thing. It’s no good to claim, as the left does, that it doesn’t exist. That is often their answer to criticism “It doesn’t exist” or “It isn’t so,” as if denying something makes it so. But we know that cancel culture does exist. It’s not the only thing eating away at our rights and freedoms, but it is probably the most potent. There are others, like critical race theory, woke culture and political correctness. They are all damaging our culture, but cancel culture is the worst. Knowing this, you may be asking yourself who their […]
