Reclaiming Canadian History with Dr. David Livingstone

Please join us for our first guest in the 2024 Guest Speaker Series Dr. David Livingstone. Dr. Livingstone is a professor of Liberal and Political Studies at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo. He has published widely in various venues from academic journals to opinion pieces.

Dr. Livingstone will speak about the forces attempting to suppress Canada’s history, from Critical Race Theory (CRT) to Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI). His main focus will be Thomas D’Arcy McGee, a famous Canadian historical figure who could soon be swept away in the ongoing purge of our country’s rightful history. McGee would view today’s identity politics as a step backward towards the factionalism he hoped Canada would overcome.

Looking forward to the first FDC event of 2024… given the turmoil in academia and the school system right now, especially concerning woke attacks on normality and truth, this talk appears very timely.

Yes it does. The key word here is “normal.” Woke ideology eschews all that is normal, rational and balanced. This includes any balanced or truthful rendition of history. Dr. Livingstone’s presentation promises to be very timely indeed and hopefully very revealing as well.

I’m excited about how Dr. Livingstone will address this timely issue. The current attack on the history of this nation is Orwellian in the extreme. For those of us who know what is true, it is critical that we stand in the gap, as it were, and not allow the evils of a woke, cultural Marxist, DIE ideology to see the light of day any longer!

Yes. I am excited as well. You are right. We have passed some kind of bizarre barrier in which rational discussion of history has been bypassed in favour of outright obscuration and lying about the past. Students need to be re-educated about their own history and walked through the curtain of propaganda they are being force fed in the academy.

If a people are unaware of their history they lose their very soul, and as the famous philosopher George Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
